The presidential search process for the 26th president of Culver-Stockton College is underway.
Feb. 18, 2014 - On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, I write with an update regarding our shared efforts to find the next great leader for Culver-Stockton and a worthy successor to President Valentine. I would like to thank all of you who participated in the pre-search study our consultant Julie Tea of AGB Search led on the campus in late January. Your thoughtful comments provided the basis for the creation of the search prospectus, a valuable tool that will be used to solicit nominations and recruit candidates nationally. The search committee members recently reviewed the search prospectus draft, and our edits were incorporated by our search consultant and the team in the College’s Communications Office. We invite you to review the finalized copy which is available here and at AGB Search’s site.
As you review the search prospectus, please pay particular attention to the attributes most highly desired in Culver-Stockton’s next president. We urge you to suggest people you know who could serve effectively in this critically important position, or those you think might know of potential candidates. Please forward their names to me (email@example.com ) or to Julie Tea (firstname.lastname@example.org), along with any advice you have on the best way to approach the individuals. Our committee is well aware that the success of our search depends on the involvement of all members of the College community. Please rest assured that names and information will be treated with full confidentiality.
Over the next several weeks, we will generate a national candidate pool through nominations received from you and others, inquiries at other colleges and universities similar to Culver-Stockton in scope and mission, advertising in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed and on a number of other relevant Websites, and the work of our search firm, AGB Search. In March the search committee will begin to narrow the candidate pool, moving toward May when final interviews involving the entire College community will be held.
The search is off to a good start. I will share with you again as we enter subsequent stages of the process, and those updates will be posted to the Presidential Search Website as well. Please feel free to contact me or our search consultant, Julie Tea, with any questions.
Jan. 28, 2014 - AGB Search, a national known and highly respected search firm, will assist the College in the search. Julie Tea, a leading and experienced consultant with AGB Search, will work with the search committee to identify candidates for president and assist the search committee to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. The search process will take several months with the plan for the Board of Trustees to elect a president at the Spring board meeting.
Julie Tea is currently on campus conducting interviews and group sessions to learn about the College, gather thoughts and ideas on what we want to see in a president. These sessions are with senior leaders of the College, faculty, staff, athletics, students, Canton Community leaders and alumni.
A Presidential Search Committee composed of thirteen members has been selected to represent the College in the search for our next president. The committee includes members of the Board of Trustees, senior college leaders, faculty, staff, a student and a member of the Canton community. Attached is a chart showing the committee members. The first meeting of the committee, along with Julie Tea, will be held on campus on Wednesday, January 29.
