Harmony
Harmony, the literary/art magazine of Culver-Stockton College, had its beginnings in 1977 under the guidance of English professor Dr. Carolyn Kane. The magazine has maintained a tradition of excellence and distinction since 1983 when the staff first entered its annual issue in national competition and received an award for "Outstanding Photography" from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA). Since then, the magazine has creatively evolved in size and design, arriving at its first full-color edition in 2012. Harmony is student-produced and showcases art and literary works by Culver-Stockton students. Outstanding student contributions to Harmony are recognized annually with the Guy Cooper Poetry Award and the Andrew Rutherford Art Award.
Awards and Honors
Harmony has received many honors and awards, the most noteworthy of which, perhaps, being Most Outstanding College Literary and Art Magazine, awarded by ASPA to the 1994 and 2010 issues of Harmony. Since 2010, Harmony has earned Gold Medalist Awards (the highest ranking) from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) and First Place Awards from ASPA. Individual students and the staff of Harmony have received numerous Gold Circle Awards from CSPA, the most notable of which are the following:
