Don BrunsMarg Coker-Nelson ’60 stays busy even in retirement through her volunteer work and numerous hobbies including golf, kayaking and knitting. Marg, who now lives in Stevens Point, Wis., also enjoys spending time with friends, family and traveling. Prior to retirement, Marg worked for 26 years at Sentry Insurance Foundation where she had the opportunity to develop and teach courses on everything from preventing sexual harassment to customer service techniques. Marg also serves or has served on a variety of boards including the YMCA Foundation Board, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin Board and the Family Crisis Center Advisory Board among others. Marg says her time at Culver-Stockton College helped her develop the leadership skills she’s used throughout her life. “Culver-Stockton College was a place where I had the opportunity to meet a diverse group of friends and try out leadership roles. That, plus the strong academic program, was certainly the right base to move into graduate school and a career that was interesting, challenging and fun.”

While attending C-SC, Marg was active in Alpha Xi Delta, Dome, Megaphone and U.N. Seminar among other organizations and extracurricular activities. She also received Culver-Stockton’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 1984. Marg now tells others that Culver-Stockton is a wonderful place where she experienced caring educators. “It’s a place where you can spread your wings, discover your skills and talents and have safety, encouragement and support.”
