Wildcats sign two to play soccer

Culver-Stockton College men's soccer coach Michael Prunty has announced that Preston Langlois and Jordan Ledbetter have signed letters of intent to attend school and play for the Wildcats, beginning with the 2012-13 school year.

Langlois, a goalkeeper from Troy, Mo. (Troy Buchanan HS), shared duties between the pipes during his senior year. He helped the Trojans record seven shutouts during the season, including one solo shutout. Langlois also recorded a team-best 81 saves while playing the majority of the minutes.

"Preston is our second goalkeeper signed this season and I can't wait to see how our goalkeepers train and push each other to improve," said Prunty. "Competition at any position is vital to the team's growth and Preston should really help in that department."

Langlois, who is expected to major in history with a goal to become a teacher says, "I chose Culver-Stockton because of the opportunity it will allow me to have with my education and opportunitites after college. My goals are to get my bachelor's degree and to improve myself on and off the field."

Ledbetter, a midfielder from Carlyle, Ill. (Carlyle HS), scored five goals and recorded seven assists for 17 points durng his senior season for the Indians.

"Jordan is a versatile player that will have an immediate impact on our midfield or backline," said Prunty. "He has been training with a quality club in the St. Louis area and those experiences will prepare him for the college level."

Ledbetter, who is expected to major in criminal justice says he chose Culver-Stockton to help the soccer team achieve a conference championship and to continue to to develep as a college player.

""I chose Culver-Stockton because both the criminal justice and soccer program have a lot to offer," said Ledbetter. "I visited several schools and I felt Culver-Stockton was the right fit for me."

Preston and Jordan are the ninth and 10th recruits signed by the Wildcats for the 2012 season. He joins Gabe Sanford, a midfielder from Urbandale, Iowa (Urbandale HS), Jake Schierding, a defender from St. Charles, Mo. (St. Dominic HS), and Alex Williams, a forward from Troy, Mo. (Buchanan HS).

Also signing this spring are Ben Lehmkuhl, a forward from Troy, Mo. (Buchanan HS), goalkeeper Jake Brauer (Breese Central HS)midfielder Nathan Zeissert (Breese Central HS), midfielder Dylan Donovan of O'Fallon, Mo. (Fort Zumwalt North HS), and midfielder Dominic Caruso of St. Louis, Mo. (Affton HS).

Culver-Stockton, located in Canton, Mo., is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and is a member of the 10-team Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) featuring colleges and universities in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.
