Women's Golf opens season at Ashford Invitational

The Culver-Stockton College women's golf team opened the 2012 season at the Ashford Invitational at Blue Ridge Top Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa.

The Lady Wildcats carded a two-day total of 757 for the event, shooting a 374 on Friday and a 383 on Saturday in cold, rainy and windy conditions to finish eighth overall. Grand View University won the event with a 691 score.

Individually, Emma VanArsdale, who was 11th overall after the first day, carded a two-day total of 180 (87-93) and finished 16th overall to lead the Lady Wildcats.

Megan Miehe and Samantha Heinrich were each tied for 26th after the first day with identical 93s. Miehe (23d) finished the tournament with a score of 185 (93-92), while Heinrich (30th) ended the weekend with a 190 (93-97).

Maddie Person rounded out the Lady Wildcats' four-person team with identical 101s each day to finish with a 202 and finish in a tie for 45th place.
