- This major is a solid first step for students who plan to go to graduate school to study molecular biology, biochemistry or other programs in life sciences.
- A major in biological chemistry is also appropriate for students interested in a pre-health major and looking toward careers in medicine, pharmacy, veterinary science or dentistry.
- Through the curriculum, students gain hands-on experience in biology and chemistry–both in the classroom and in real-world settings.
- Students can complete an internship in their field before graduating.
- Careers available right after graduation include  teaching, industrial laboratory technician, conservation agent, as well as work in agriculture and government agencies.
- The Science Center houses an astronomy observation deck, computer labs, a state-of-the-art DNA sequencer and binocular compound microscopes for student research and teaching experience.
