Music Degrees
Students pursuing a BME must complete 60 hours of coursework in the music department including music history, music literature, music theory and aural skills. Students also must pass a piano proficiency exam. In addition, students must satisfy any requirements for a teaching degree by the education division. Field experiences and education methods courses will be offered during the 3-week terms in the spring of your sophomore and junior years. Private lessons and ensemble work are required. BME majors must complete repertoire and performance requirements for six semesters, and prepare and perform a senior recital. They also must attend other student’s repertoires, recitals and concerts.
