Ensembles:
Instrumental ensembles at Culver-Stockton provide many opportunities for musical performance and development. In addition to providing valuable professional training for instrumental music majors, the college's music ensembles give the non-major a chance to perform in the following:
- Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is a large ensemble open to all experienced instrumentalists. Dedicated to high quality performance of fine band music, the Symphonic Band performs a wide variety of music, including standard band works, orchestral transcripts, and modern original band pieces.
- Wind Ensemble
The finest players in the Symphonic Band are chosen by audition to form the Wind Ensemble. This group performs band and wind ensemble music of the highest quality. In addition to performance on campus, the Wind Ensemble also travels to area high schools and community events. Each year this group performs on tour with the Jazz Ensemble.
- Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble performs a variety of jazz and contemporary styles in a standard big band instrumentation. Musicians are chosen by audition and must also be members of the Symphonic Band. The Jazz Ensemble performs frequently in a wide variety of settings, including the Annual Tour. Each spring the Jazz Ensemble hosts C-SC JazzFest.
- Camerata
Camerata is an ensemble that features music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The primary focus is on experimental and avant-garde music of the past hundred years.
- Pep Band
The Pep Band is a volunteer group of musicians from the Symphonic Band that performs at a limited number of football and basketball games.
