Mock Trial
AMTA was founded in 1985 by Dean Richard Calkins of Drake Law School. AMTA is an organization that sponsors intercollegiate mock trial competition. These competitions allow undergraduate students an opportunity to learn critical thinking and public speaking skills. More importantly, students learn courtroom and legal procedures as they participate as both attorneys and witnesses.
Mock Trial programs offer trial simulations with teams from other colleges and universities. AMTA sponsors regional and national-level competitions and provides their member schools with annual case materials for academic use.
Culver-Stockton has rejoined the American Mock Trial Association in 2008, after a brief membership in the 1990s.
