Monday, January 04, 2010

CANTON, Mo. – The Faculty Colloquium series at Culver-Stockton College will kick off the Spring semester with a presentation by Jayme Long, coordinator of the C-SC academic support center and instructor of English, titled, "Race, Youth and Power: What My FYE Class Taught Me."

“I will talk about what I learned are the differences between the way I and those of my generation dealt with issues of race during our teen years compared to the way some of my students and their generation deal with race issues today,” said Long.

Long decided to talk on this topic after teaching a First-Year Experience (FYE) course on “Talking Back/Talking Black Issues.”

The event will take place on Tuesday January 19, at 6 p.m. in Meaders Lounge, located in the Gladys Crown Student Center on the C-SC campus. This event is free and open to the public. It is also part of the C-SC Academic and Cultural Events Program.
