C-SC alum to speak to students about the road from C-SC to family medicine

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College alum John Dougherty ’88, will visit C-SC to speak with students interested in biomedical sciences and sports medicine on Thursday, February 11. His lecture, “From Culver to Family Medicine: A Discussion on the State of Sports Medicine and Related Careers,” will discuss his own experiences with graduate and medical school preparation, the healthcare profession admissions procedures, and professional school entrance exams. He will speak at 11:30 a.m. in the Science Center, room 208.

John Dougherty, D.O., FAOASM is currently the chairman of family medicine at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. While attending C-SC Dougherty was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, football, tennis, concert choir, Theta Alpha Chi, class president freshman – junior year and student body president his senior year. After graduating from C-SC, Dougherty went on to medical school at KCUMB ’92, completed his residency at University of North Texas – Family Medicine and finished his fellowship at KCUMB/Med Center of Independence – Sports Medicine. He currently lives in Kansas City, Mo., with his wife Sara.

This lecture is sponsored by the Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society and is free and open to the public. It is also a part of C-SC’s Academic and Cultural Events program.
