CANTON, Mo. – The Culver-Stockton College Concert and Chamber Choir will perform a concert in conjunction with the C-SC Wind Ensemble on Friday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium located in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center on the C-SC campus.
Under the direction Kevin Baker, director of choral activities, the Concert and Chamber Choir will open the performance with work by Lloyd Pfautch. The choirs will also perform modern works with lush harmonies and sensitive lines, early sacred compositions, classic jazz numbers such as "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess, as well as exciting choral works from other genres.
Celebrating the 100th birthdays of two prominent American composers, the Culver-Stockton College Wind Ensemble, under the conduction of Trent A. Hollinger, director of bands, will perform William Schuman’s “New England Triptych” and Samuel Barber’s “Commando March.” Cornerstones of the classic wind band repertoire, audience members are sure to enjoy the strong American heritage found within these superlative works.
