Culver-Stockton to host Missouri congressional candidate
Monday, October 04, 2010

CANTON, Mo. – The Culver-Stockton College Department of Politics, Law and Justice and the student organization IDEAS will host a town hall meeting with Chris Dwyer, Libertarian candidate for Missouri’s 9th Congressional District. The meeting will begin at 11:45 on Wednesday, Oct. 13 in Meaders Lounge in the Gladys Crown Center on the C-SC campus. Doors open at 11:30 and guests may bring their lunch to the session. The event is free to the public and promises to be an informative and engaging experience.

Founded in 1971, the Libertarian party is America’s third largest political party and plays an important, if sometimes unappreciated, role in American government and politics. About 15 percent of the electorate lean Libertarian and nearly 150 elected offices nationwide are held by Libertarians. The party traditionally emphasizes individual liberty in both economic and personal matters and seeks to drastically limit the role of government.

Midterm elections are merely days away. Don’t miss this opportunity to openly exchange ideas with our district’s Libertarian candidate for Congress. Mr. Dwyer joins us on the campaign trail and is uniquely qualified to discuss a host of issues that directly impact our community.

The town hall meeting is offered as a part of C-SC’s Academic and Cultural Events program. The Academic and Cultural Events program is an integral part of the college’s liberal arts education. These events broaden academic pursuits, introduce current issues, serve as a forum for ethical concerns, offer cultural breadth and refinement, and stimulate new directions and perspectives for thought.
