Tuesday, October 05, 2010
CANTON, Mo. – Students from Culver-Stockton College had the rare opportunity to hear a lecture from a sitting U.S. Supreme Court Justice during a recent visit to Drake University Law School. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito Jr. was the featured speaker during the Dwight D. Opperman Lecture in Constitutional Law at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Students from C-SC’s “Law Advocacy” class attended the lecture held Sept. 30.
Justice Alito spoke about how oral advocacy at the Supreme Court has changed throughout history. During the visit, Culver-Stockton pre-law students also had the opportunity to tour the Drake University Campus and attend a panel discussion with current law students.
“This was a great experience for our students to hear a Supreme Court Justice speak, as well as having a chance to speak to law students at Drake,” said Judy Abbot, pre-law advisor at Culver-Stockton.
