Scholarship donors meet student recipients

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College hosted its annual scholarship luncheon recently to honor both scholarship students and the donors who make the annual and endowed scholarships possible. The luncheon allows the college to express its appreciation for the generosity of donors.
According to Eric Barkley, director of advancement and alumni programs at Culver-Stockton College, it means a great deal to donors to get to know the students they are assisting and it makes their support feel more personal.
“This is a very special event for both our donors and recipients, as they have the opportunity to meet in person and share their very own stories with one another,” said Barkley. “Our program was moved to the fall this year, as opposed to our usual spring event in an effort to build these important relationships much earlier. We had a terrific turnout in terms of the number of students and donors attending and you could just tell there were many outstanding and interesting conversations happening throughout the event. I must say we are very proud of our students and extremely grateful for the generosity of our alumni and friends who sponsor scholarships at C-SC.”
“Scholarships are a big part of the Culver-Stockton experience, getting an education and going beyond the class,” said Corey Meyer, junior religion and philosophy major from Kansas City, Mo. Meyer also spoke during the luncheon expressing his gratitude for the McAlear Family Scholarship, which he also received last year.
Around 100 donors, scholarship representatives and students attended the annual luncheon.
