Seeking nominations, sponsors for EDM 2
Tuesday, January 25, 2011

CANTON, Mo. -- Culver-Stockton College is pleased to announce Extreme Dome Makeover (EDM) 2 is scheduled for August 2011. Once again, the college will collaborate with the Canton community to complete exterior makeovers for city projects and residents’ homes.

The emphasis of the EDM is to recognize deserving members of the community who have demonstrated qualities of good faith and human spirit despite personal limitations or hardships.

The EDM concept was developed and launched in 2010 by the college as a way to make a greater contribution and impact on the Canton and college communities. Guided by our motto “Do Something that Makes a Difference,” the EDM team along with city officials, local churches, area businesses and community members built a force of more than 400 volunteers and invested about $150K in labor and material into the Canton community. This year we hope to accomplish even more!

If you know someone who is deserving of an exterior home makeover, we strongly encourage you to fill out an EDM nomination form. Forms can be found on the EDM website at www.culver.edu/dome or hard copy forms are located at city hall, as well as the Baptist, Christian and Methodist Churches of Canton.

Nominations will be accepted Feb. 1 through 28 for four sponsored (labor and material) makeovers. However, if you would like to nominate someone for free labor (material not included), those nominations will be accepted until all projects are filled or the March 31 deadline is reached.

Previous Extreme Dome Makeover recipients include, Phillip and Loxi Barr, Colleen Feldkamp, Carl and Karen LaSala, and Allen and Adrian Searson. Several community service projects were also completed during the inaugural EDM event.

Additional volunteers and donated supplies are also welcome. Building materials, supplies, refreshments and food for our volunteers are greatly needed. All nominations, volunteer or sponsor requests should be returned to Culver-Stockton College, c/o Dr. Jay Hoffman and/or e-mailed to jhoffman@culver.edu. For more information on last year’s event, or previously sponsored projects log on to www.culver.edu/dome.
