Monday, February 14, 2011
CANTON, Mo. – The Culver-Stockton College Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Trent Hollinger, will perform a concert on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium inside the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.
In the style of Leonard Bernstein’s Young People’s Concert, audience members will enjoy detailed explanations and musical examples before each work. The wind ensemble will begin their performance with Howard Hanson’s “Chorale and Alleluia.” The wind ensemble will then present a world premiere wind ensemble orchestration of Alexander Borodin's “Steppes in Central Asia” by Scott Uhlott, senior music major from Rantoul, Ill. They will conclude their performance with works by Percy Aldridge Grainger, including his lush and beautiful “Colonial Song,” and “Gum-Sucker’s March.” The wind ensemble will conclude with a performance of William Schumann’s “Chester.”
