Monday, February 14, 2011

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College will celebrate its historic and ongoing relationship with Canton Christian Church during a worship service Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011.

Members of the college and church will share in the annual Heritage Sunday celebration. Culver-Stockton President Richard Valentine will renew the covenant between the church and college. The service will also include a performance by the Culver-Stockton choir; and C-SC Chaplain Brent Reynolds and Corey Meyer, junior religion and philosophy major from Independence, Mo., will deliver a message entitled “The Power of Faith and Education.”

Heritage Sunday services begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Canton Christian Church, located at 512 College Street. A luncheon will follow.
Culver-Stockton College has maintained its affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since the school was founded by church members in 1853. Culver-Stockton sustains the spirit of the college’s heritage by providing a caring and supportive environment in which students examine their faith, discover a deep sense of their being and express it by sharing their best-loved gifts in a place of the world's deep need.
