Thursday, April 21, 2011

CANTON, Mo. – Former Culver-Stockton student-athlete Mark Konkol was the recipient of the highest honor bestowed on journalists – the Pulitzer Prize.

Konkol attended Culver-Stockton College from 1991-1993 and was a member of the Wildcat football team.

Konkol and two others from the Chicago Sun-Times won the Pulitzer Prize for local reporting for their series on violence in Chicago neighborhoods. In an article posted on the Chicago Sun-Times website Konkol said “This is totally unexpected, and it’s a great thing. I’m glad that I worked with such great people, and it’s about time the Sun-Times got some recognition for the work we do every day.”

Konkol graduated from Western Illinois University in 1995.
