C-SC theatre department presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”
Wednesday, June 15, 2011
CANTON, Mo. – The Culver-Stockton College theatre department will open the 2011 fall season with “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” A special mattana will be staged Sunday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. in the Mabee Little Theatre inside the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center on the campus of Culver-Stockton. Performances will also be held Thursday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is described by the Music Theatre International as “a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.”
Ticket prices are adults, $8 and students, $5. For more information or to reserve tickets, contact the Fine Arts Division at finearts@culver.edu or (573) 288-6346.
