Alumni giving to Annual Fund increases for second consecutive year
Thursday, July 21, 2011

CANTON, Mo. -- The Culver-Stockton College Office of Advancement and Alumni Programs recently announced that alumni giving to the C-SC Annual Fund for the 2010-2011 Fiscal Year showed steady growth. Giving from all sources to the Annual Fund yet again exceeded $1.1 million with alumni gift receipts increasing two percent compared to the previous year. Even more impressive is the growing number of alumni giving back to the Annual Fund. During the past two years, the alumni gift participation rate to the fund has increased from 14 percent to 18 percent, moving Culver-Stockton closer to the national alumni gift participation average for similar institutions, which stands at 30 percent.

“Alumni are responding to our ‘call to action’, and we are building a great tradition of giving one donor at a time at Culver-Stockton. Our advancement and alumni team is focusing its message through a grassroots effort and sharing with prospective alumni donors how their annual gift will have an immediate and long-term impact on both students and the college. It is exciting to think about the possibilities ahead for C-SC, and to have alumni sending a strong message by pledging their support,” said Eric Barkley, director of advancement and alumni programs.

On July 1, the college began its new Annual Fund Drive, which was recently renamed the C-SC Annual Fund for Student Scholarships, that will run through June 30, 2012. Gift requests to this year’s fund will focus on support for the general student scholarship program, with 100 percent of gifts directly impacting students through scholarship opportunities. “Many of the alumni our team visits share amazing stories about how important scholarships were to them as a student on ‘the Hill.’ By supporting the C-SC Annual Fund for Student Scholarships, alumni know exactly how their gift is helping the college and its students,” explains Barkley.
