“Journey” brings documentary filmmaker to Culver-Stockton College

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College announces Adam Banicki will be on campus Sept.14, 2011 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Merillat Recital Hall to discuss “A Film Maker’s Journey.”

Banicki, who is currently studying social documentary film at The School of Visual Arts and working with his newly created production company, Contingency Pictures, will discuss his passion for non-fiction story telling; which inspired him to enroll in the Social Documentary Film.

His production, “The Piano Busker,” premiered at The Iowa City Documentary Film Festival and then played at The Edgemar Short Film Festival. It is nominated for best documentary and is playing at The Naperville Independent Film Festival.

Banicki grew up in the Midwest and attended DePaul University in Chicago, where he earned his undergraduate degree in digital cinema. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. During his time there, he worked on multiple productions, including Entertainment Tonight and The Cleveland Show; he also spent time at Katalyst Films

“A Film Maker’s Journey” being offered as part of Culver-Stockton College’s Academic and Cultural Events (ACE) program and is free and open to the public.
