The competition will include eight teams of students from four area high schools, student advisors will also be in attendance. Team presentations will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Herrick Foundation Center on the campus of Culver-Stockton College. “This competition will challenge the high school students to think critically about real-world issues, to contribute as a member of a team and to hone their presentation skills. It is an outstanding opportunity for area high students to gain exposure to the experiential learning environment at Culver-Stockton College,” added Dell Ann Janney, Culver-Stockton Business Division chair and professor of accounting. The top three teams selected from the field will make their final presentations from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and winners will be announced beginning at 2:45 p.m. Distinguished representatives from a number of area businesses will serve as judges during this year’s Duel on the Hill. In addition to taking part in the Duel on the Hill competition, students are also challenged to help collect non-perishable food items to support the Fall Harvest Food Drive. The food collection drive, sponsored by WGEM and County Market, is an initiative focused toward feeding the hungry within the tri-state area. All items go directly toward local Salvation Army locations to meet the daily needs of those less fortunate. The team that raises the largest amount of food items will be presented a trophy. The 2010 Duel on the Hill Fall Harvest Challenge winner was Warsaw High School. Teams of students from Clark County R-I School District, Southeastern High School, Central High School and Warsaw High School will take part in the competition. Those students will also be invited to take part in a panel with current Culver-Stockton College students. Members of C-SC’s Institute of Management Accountants will also be on hand to showcase their student ap for the iPad.
