Tuesday, October 25, 2011

CANTON, Mo. -- C-SC Mock Trial squared off in its first invitation tournament of the season at the Quincy Riverside Classic. In all, 14 teams took part in the tournament held at the Adams County Courthouse in Quincy, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 22.

In their first round match, members of Culver-Stockton College’s Mock Trial Team defeated Quincy University by a 35 point margin. Round two saw C-SC face Lewis Univeristy, who went on to sweep the tournament. Culver-Stockton finished the invitational in sixth place and received two individual awards, Best Attorney: Dylan Gauldin, sophomore criminal justice major from O’Fallon, Mo., and Best Witness: Josh Lee, junior criminal justice major from Canton, Mo.

“This tournament gave us the opportunity to face a national contender and learn from one of the best Mock Trial Schools in the Midwest. Our hats are tipped to Lewis University who swept the tournament with a perfect record and went undefeated,” said Judy Abbott, Mock Trial advisor and senior lecturer in criminal justice.

Culver-Stockton’s Mock Trial team will next compete in the Illinois State Tournament in mid-November.
