Professor emeritus donates 19th book to Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. –Al Beck, C-SC professor of art emeritus today donated his 19th book, “Sweet Aberrations”, to Johann Memorial Library on the campus of Culver-Stockton College. Beck, who taught at Culver-Stockton from 1968 to 1996, has published a number of works that include poetry, essays, cartoons and commentaries on the American education system.

Beck’s accomplishments include recognition as a creative writer and educator, including being listed in 2000 Outstanding Writers of the 20th Century, an international reference book by the International Biographical Centre in England, and receiving numerous art awards and prizes throughout his career for clay, glass, paper casting, painting and design. In 2006, he received the Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry: International Library of Poetry; and in 2007, he received second place in the 15th Annual National Senior Poets Laureate Poetry Competition in Missouri.
