Culver-Stockton has seen a 119 percent increase in dollars received from alumni and trustee members combined, in comparing the mid-points of fiscal years 2009 and 2011. This giving pace equates to $336,000 more in gifts at the mid-point of the 2011 fiscal year, compared to the same time in the 2009 fiscal year. Additionally, the number of alumni donors also increased by 10 percent. The college’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30, 2011. “Culver-Stockton College is extremely grateful for the generous contributions made by our outstanding alumni and board of trustee members,” said President Richard Valentine. “The momentum in giving has a significant impact on our students and campus. As a private, self-sustaining institution, Culver-Stockton does not seek nor accept federal or state grants or loans of any type. We are building on this momentum from individual donors - one donor at a time - to enrich the student experience.” The increased support from alumni and trustees is a strong signal for the future of Culver-Stockton, according to Board of Trustees and Advancement Committee member Chuck Scholz. “During the past two years, there was an increased focus on getting the word out about all the wonderful things happening at C-SC,” explains Scholz. “It was a combined effort by the members of our advancement office and the campus community as a whole to let people outside the college know that the experiences students have at Culver-Stockton are unlike any other. They gain hands-on knowledge with real-world applications. They’re doing unique internships, research, traveling - it’s truly an innovative academic approach. I think people see that C-SC is doing great things in terms of student success, and they want to help the school continue in its mission,” he continued. In addition, financial support from college employees and friends continues to have a major impact. For the ninth consecutive year, more than 90 percent of C-SC employees contributed to the college. “This is an amazing rate of support, a level many colleges would love to reach. This again shows how committed our supporters are to seeing that a new generation of students have a terrific experience on our campus,” added Valentine. OTHER FEATURED ARTICLES
