Essentials of weight lifting at C-SC open to community

CANTON, Mo. – High school students and area adults are invited to take part in a beginner’s weight lifting class hosted by Culver-Stockton College on Sunday, March 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The class offers participants the opportunity to get into better shape by teaching proper weight lifting techniques and the biggest mistakes in the weight room, as well as emphasizing the importance of nutrition and injury prevention. The course will be instructed by C-SC Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Heinrich Thomas. Before joining to Culver-Stockton, Heinrich gained valuable Division I experience as an assistant strength coach at Bowling Green State University, and the University of Toledo, training football and Olympic sport programs. Heinrich is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association; a level one sports performance coach through USA Weightlifting; and a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness. Heinrich is also a certified third degree black belt instructor in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido.

The registration fee is $15 before Wednesday, March 22 and $20 after. The class will take place in the Charles Field House weight room.
