The Culver-Stockton Mock Trial team competed in the Illinois State University Tournament Nov. 2-4 at the McLean County Law and Justice Center in Bloomington, Illinois. Thirty teams from different schools all over the Midwest competed in the four-round tournament. The Culver-Stockton Mock Trial Team lost its first round to nationally ranked Cornell College, and split the second round with Manchester University. C-SC mockers faced off against Bradley University's A team in the third round and swept both cards. They won the last round and finished the tournament at 5-3. This is the best finish for Culver-Stockton in the history of the Mock Trial program. The 5-3 finish landed them tied for seventh place.
The mock trial team consists of:
Dylan Gauldin, Sarah Bouldin, Josh Lee, Chelsea Hoffman, Lisa Dawson, Jeremiah Williamson, Patrick Clark, Dillon Ezell, Justin Ferris and Mark Boatman.
The team also won the fifth place trophy at the Quincy Riverside Classic Mock Trial Tournament held in the Adams County Courthouse last month. Culver-Stockton's team outpaced Illinois State University, Bradley University, Quincy University and Wheaton College to secure the fifth place finish. Initially there was a tie for fifth place, but Culver-Stockton had more overall points and was awarded the trophy. Two Mock Trial team members captured individual awards during this tournament. Dylan Gauldin took home an Outstanding Attorney award. Gauldin scored a perfect 10 to capture top honors in this category. Sarah Bouldin won an Outstanding Witness award.
