Culver-Stockton hosts Business Visit Day

Culver-Stockton College hosted a Business Visit Day for area schools on Tuesday October 30. About 80 students from Canton R-V, Clark County R-I, Illini West, Highland, and Quincy Notre Dame participated in this event to develop their skills in becoming future business leaders and to check out Culver-Stockton's business programs.

"The business division was pleased with the attendance at the annual visit day. This day provided the opportunity for our student business organizations to showcase the business division programs and the travel and competitions in which the groups participate," said Dell Ann Janney, professor of accounting and chairperson of business division.

Students took part in half-hour sessions that included "Your Paycheck," which helps students develop personal financial goals; "Jeopardy," which tests students' knowledge of marketing; "CustomPride on eBay" which allowed students to learn how to make a profit through an
eBay business; and "K'nex," which provided a team building opportunity.

Students listened to presentations from C-SC student organizations that included Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Institute of Management Accountants Student Chapter (IMA), and the Association for Computer Machinery Student Chapter.

Melik Peter Khoury, vice president for enrollment management and college marketing, welcomed the students, saying: "Culver-Stockton is pleased to host these opportunities for high school students in the region to help advance their knowledge and strengthen their skills. For Culver-Stockton, helping younger students is just as important as providing the education and skills for our own students. We are building business resources that will benefit the entire community."
