Culver-Stockton building information portal
"MyCulver" offers new features for faculty, staff, and students. |
"MyCulver" is the new secure portal integrated with Culver-Stockton's administrative software. It will eventually replace functions currently available through the Wildcat Window and the Faculty/Staff Intranet. This information portal provides up-to-date academic and employee information; it also offers new options for prospective students and alumni. One key feature of all versions of the portal is the ability for users to create "My Pages," which are based on the user's own choices for adding
calendars, files, announcements, bookmarks, etc.
"Students benefit from several new features available through 'MyCulver.' They will be able to access unofficial transcripts, degree audits, room and roommate preferences, online registration, and a GPA projection," said Cindy McCutchan, webmaster and software support coordinator. "They also will be able to set up groups to share information with others of common interest, and an updated credit card payment process will be activated very soon."
According to McCutchan, the benefits of "MyCulver" include advanced advising features, as well as the ability for faculty to also host academic discussions via chat or discussion boards and to form groups to engage students in a particular topic.
"We want to encourage all students, faculty, and staff to begin using 'MyCulver,'" added McCutchan. "As items are relocated to 'MyCulver,' they will be removed from Wildcat Window and the Faculty and Staff Intranet."

Students celebrate revealing of new logo
 Students celebrated EXP@CSC recently. |
Culver-Stockton College students celebrated their new curriculum during special events recently. Students were asked to vote on a logo for the EXP@CSC curriculum that begins next fall and combines a traditional liberal arts education with expanded opportunities for experience in their field.
The curriculum also features an innovative academic calendar that splits the 15-week semester into a 12-week long term and a 3-week short term. The 3-week classes feature in-depth opportunities for taking one on-campus course or pursuing one of the experiential courses that could include travel abroad or within the United States, as well as internships, practicums, independent research, clinical experience, etc. The EXP@CSC logo was revealed in festivities over the lunch hour. Students also are
competing in two contests using the new logo that will result in an online video and a T-shirt design. Winners will be announced after spring break when students return to campus March 31. Online registration for the new curriculum begins April 7.
Winners of the EXP@CSC sweatshirts during the celebration lunch were Kat Kerness, junior; Heather Meyer, senior; Marcus Barnett, freshman; Michelle Staples, senior; Mary Bowman, freshman; and Dr. Carol Mathieson, professor of music.

Two separate tests were given. The AMC 10 was taken by 9th and 10th grade students, with the top 1 percent of students advancing to the next round of competition. The AMC 12 was taken by students in grades 9-12, and only the top 5 percent advanced to the next round of competition.

Canton Arts Council exhibits young artists
Canton Area Arts Council (CAAC) will feature talented young artists from Northeast Missouri in the Sixth Biennial CAAC Juried Elementary Art Show. Students from elementary schools in four Northeast Missouri counties have submitted work that has been selected for judging.
A gallery show of these works will open in the CAAC Gallery, 309 Lewis St., on Friday, March 7, with a public reception at 7 p.m. The show will run on weekends until March 29. CAAC Gallery hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sundays from 1-3 p.m.

Student artists have submitted works in such categories as drawing, painting, three-dimensional work, and mixed-media. Ribbons will be awarded Friday.
