FINANCE

A student presents his project to instructor

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Students are prepared for careers in corporate finance, banking, investment analysis or financial planning. The curriculum provides students with necessary skills in forecasting, analysis, investments and financial management, as well as prepares them to enter C-SC’s MBA program or other graduate programs. Employers are looking for graduates with strong interpersonal skills, and the finance curriculum helps students develop excellent written and oral communication skills. Students are given the opportunity to meet corporate leaders in board rooms of major corporations.

WHY SHOULD I MAJOR IN FINANCE?

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists a number of finance positions — financial managers, financial analysts, personal financial advisors and financial examiners — with projected growth rates faster than the national average. A degree in finance doesn’t limit you to a certain type of company or industry, but instead may open career path options among various types of businesses or nonprofits. And it’s not all about the numbers. Many finance positions require interpersonal skills like strong written and oral communication and active listening, and even persuasive speaking and social perceptiveness when working with clients or other employees.

AFTER C-SC

Ninety-eight percent of responding C-SC graduates are either employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation. Finance majors often find employment as a financial advisor, loan officer, realtor, credit analyst, financial planner, insurance agent, compensation analyst, financial analyst or portfolio administrator.

C-SC Rranked #1 in Missouri as Best College for Employment according to Zippia, Inc.

The small classes at C-SC have given me the opportunity to work closely with my professors and network with a variety of successful alumni speakers. Through my C-SC connections, I was able to land my current position.
