Background
Hunter Davis came to Culver-Stockton in the summer of 2023. In his time at Culver-Stockton, he has produced 2 NAIA All-Americans, 7 conference champions, 57 All-Heart athletes, 27 national qualifiers, and 67 school records including the first cross country individual qualifiers in school history with Delaney Straus (twice) and Logan Lucas. Davis also guided Straus to become a 2025 Women's Decathlon World Championship qualifier where she placed 10th in the world. Her total score of 6,372 is the all time NAIA record. During her record breaking permanence she put up the #8 100m (12.43) decathlon mark in US history, #8 javelin (130' 8") decathlon mark in US history, and #3 1500m (5:01.62) decathlon mark in US history, Her decathlon ranked #16 in US history, and was the #1 mark for somebody under the age of 22 in 2025 and was the #3 mark in u21 US history. Davis has also broken all individual and team school records in cross country in his tenure.
Prior to Culver-Stockton, Davis served as the Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field/Cross Country and sports information director at Iowa Wesleyan University from 2019-2023. In his time, Davis produced 21 national qualifiers, 1 NAIA All-American, 5 conference champions, and 68 school records. Prior to that Davis ran his collegiate years at Morningside College where he was a team captain and later became an assistant coach, assisting in numerous All-Americans and the 2019 national champion in women's javelin and national runner up in the women's heptathlon. Davis hails from Spirit Lake, Iowa where he prepped at Spirit Lake high school where he helped guide his cross country team to a conference championship.
