Background
Julie Straus joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in August 2008. She teaches accounting courses on principles of accounting, cost management, auditing, income tax accounting, advanced accounting, fraud prevention and corporate experience. She also is the chair of the Business, Education and Law Division.
She was the recipient of the Walter S. Reuling Faculty Prize for Innovation in Student Learning in 2018, and she was awarded the Helsabeck Prize for Excellence in Teaching at C-SC in 2011. She was included in The Quincy Herald-Whig's 20 Under 40 publication in September 2011.
Straus previously worked from 1997 to 2008 as a staff accountant, and eventually as a partner, at Gray Hunter Stenn LLP in Quincy, Ill. She has her Certified Public Accountant license in Illinois and Missouri, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Institute of Management Accountants and the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society.
Straus is a member of the Marion County R-II School Board. She lives in Philadelphia, Mo., with her husband Greg. They are parents of two daughters. She enjoys reading and watching high school and college sports, particularly softball, baseball and basketball.
