CANTON, Mo. — Illini West High School from Carthage, Ill., defeated Quincy (Ill.) Notre Dame 265-180 to win the first Culver-Stockton College Scholastic Bowl Invitational on Thursday at Merillat Chapel and Recital Hall in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center. Twelve teams from 11 schools participated in the day-long event that attracted more than 100 students to campus.
Illini West defeated Quincy Blue 175-170 in the semifinals, and it defeated Rushville-Industry (Ill.) 280-205 and Bowling Green 300-75 in pool play. Team members were Katherine Charles, Hunter Boston, Mason Burling, Laura Carpenter, Olivia Clark, Taylor Combites, Taryn Groth, Jordan Holt, Abby Johnson, Logan Little, Colton Shipman, Liliana Solano and Donovan Squier. Kim Johnson was the team’s coach.
Canton defeated North Shelby 320-105 in the consolation championship.
