Background

Dr. Melissa Holt joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in August 2012. She teaches psychology courses on topics such as statistics for the social sciences, research methods, social psychology, biological psychology, stress management, sport psychology, psychology of marketing and health psychology. She also is the coordinator of experiential education and travel director.

Before coming to C-SC, Holt taught at John Tyler Community College in Richmond, Va., and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. She was a research assistant at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Holt has co-authored peer-reviewed articles and chapters on the topic of PTSD, mindfulness and stress management. She also enjoys leading workshops on mindful meditation, assertiveness, leadership and behavior regulation techniques.

Holt lives in Canton, Mo., with her husband, Chris, and her two cats. She enjoys reading, meditation, music, ethnic food, gardening, yoga and walking. She is the treasurer for the Lewis County Food Pantry.
