Background
Seth McBride joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in August 2014. He currently is the Chair of the Business, Education and Law Division. Seth is also the Chair of the Criminal Justice Department and Senior Lecture in Criminal Justice.
McBride was the recipient of the Walter S. Reuling Prize for Innovation in Student Learning in May 2022, as well the President?s Award for Exemplary Service in May 2018. He was awarded the Blue Apple for excellence in teaching, presented by the Culver-Stockton Teacher Organization and voted on by C-SC students in both 2020 and 2022. The Criminal Justice Department was named the program of the year for the Fallen Officer Project during the 2019-2020 academic year.
McBride is a Hannibal, Mo., native and a commissioned sheriff's deputy in Lewis County. He served with the Hannibal Police Department from 2003 to 2012, and he honors officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice through the Fallen Officer Project he created in 2018. Through the Fallen Officer Project, there has been over $15,000 total raised for the Supporting Heroes and Whose House Our House Foundations.
McBride is the president and co-founder of the Blue Wolverine Foundation, which was created November 2016. The idea for the foundation started after McBride and his wife, Kayla, took their son to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis in November 2015 to learn how their son, Logan, was going to live with Type-1 Diabetes. The foundation's mission is to aid families in Northeast Missouri who have children with Type-1 Diabetes. In November 2021, the foundation announced a scholarship, The Blue Wolverine Foundation Scholarship, that will assist T1D H.S./G.E.D graduates with college or trade school. Seth wrote the proposal, for what is now the Critical Response Simulation Lab.
Seth was the president of the board of directors at Douglass Community Services in Hannibal, MO, from 2017-2021. Douglas is a private not-for-profit human services agency that sponsors Head Start, Community Outreach Initiatives, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Kids In Motion, Healthy Marriage Initiative, Emergency Food Pantry, Christmas Adopt A Family, Emergency Utility Assistance and the Nifty Thrifty clothing store.
McBride was recognized in 2020 in The Herald-Whig's annual 20 under 40 publication. The Herald-Whig has recognized 20 outstanding professionals under the age of 40 annually since 2007.
Before coming to Culver-Stockton, Seth was a Corporate Investigator for the Boeing Corporation in St. Louis for 3 1/2 years. During his time at Boeing, Seth investigated fraud, waste, and abuse under the Office of Internal Governance in North and South America, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. McBride and his wife, Kayla, live in Hannibal, Mo. They have two children. They attend Clover Road Christian Church, where Seth is an Elder.
