Homecoming weekend at C-SC runs Thursday through Sunday

CANTON, Mo. — “Wildcat Kingdom: Hear Us Roar” is the theme of homecoming weekend at Culver-Stockton College, which begins Thursday. Reunions of the 1969 football team and the graduating classes of 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2009 will be featured.

Following is the schedule of events:

THURSDAY, OCT. 17

11 a.m. Scholarship Luncheon
J.E. & L.E. Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center Gym. Student scholarship winners have lunch with their donors.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18

8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Homecoming Weekend Headquarters
Office of Advancement & Alumni Programs, Henderson Hall. Pick up homecoming buttons, kids packs, snacks and reunion event nametags.

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Campus Tours
Office of Advancement & Alumni Programs, Henderson Hall

3 p.m. Women’s Locker Room Dedication & Blue vs White Scrimmage Game
Charles Field House. Current men’s and women’s teams will give alumni a pre-season glimpse.

5:30 p.m. Alumni Honors Banquet
Gladys Crown Student Center. Tickets are $25 each. Honorees: Blair Stanicek ’62 – Distinguished Alumnus; Todd ’83 & Susan ’81 Goderstad – Distinguished Alumni; Stacy Raith ’83 – Alumni Leadership and Service; Michael Sweeney ’10 – Outstanding Young Alumnus; Scott Giltner – Dome Award; Marjorie Ellison ’90 – Dome Award; Bette Godard – Honorary Wildcat Award.

7 p.m. Women’s Volleyball Game
Charles Field House vs. Hannibal-LaGrange University

7:30 – 10 p.m. Blue and White Mixer ($10)
J.E. & L.E. Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center Gym. Tickets are $10 each. Mix and mingle with fellow Wildcat Alumni. Enjoy a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres and reunion group photos.

9:30 p.m. Fireworks
Viewing area near the Sigma Phi Epsilon Plaza, tailgating area behind J.E. & L.E. Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center. Co-sponsored by J&M Displays, Inc.

SATURDAY, OCT. 19

8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Homecoming Weekend Headquarters

9:30 a.m. Homecoming Parade
Downtown Canton, This year’s parade marshals are members of the 1969 football team.

10 a.m. Alumni Softball Game
Himsl Field. Past softball players put on their cleats, grab their gloves and take the field once again.’

11 a.m. Alpha Xi Delta Gathering
Mabee Art Gallery, Herrick Foundation Center. Private viewing of the extensive hand-crafted collection of teddy bears from Susie and Ron ’64 Leftwich.

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Campus Tours
Office of Advancement & Alumni Programs, Henderson Hall

11:30 a.m. Top of the Hill Luncheon
Meaders Lounge, Gladys Crown Student Center. Join us in inducting the Class of 1969 into the Top of the Hill Society. (Inductees & previous inductees complimentary, non-members $20)

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wildcat Willie’s Tailgate
Grass lot behind J.E. & L.E. Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center. Cook out and mingle with friends, family and alumni. (No cars will be allowed in the area. You can carry in all alcohol and food. Tailgating polices must be followed.)

11 a.m. – noon High School Band Awards Ceremony
Alexander Campbell Auditorium, Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Homecoming lunch
Dining Hall, Gladys Crown Student Center, open 11 a.m.; Cat’s Pause, basement of Gladys Crown Student Center, open 10 a.m.; athletic concessions at Ellison Poulton Stadium, open 11 a.m.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Big Cat-Little Cat Legacy Land
The Quad and third floor of Henderson Hall. Sponsored by Culver-Stockton Teacher’s Organization.
School age children can enjoy kid-friendly activities.

12:30 p.m. football game vs. Grand View University
Ellison Poulton Stadium. Halftime: dance/cheer performance, introduction of the 1969 football team, marching band performance

2 – 5 p.m. Art Gallery Exhibit
Mabee Art Gallery, Herrick Foundation Center. View the extensive hand-crafted collection of teddy bears from Susie and Ron ’64 Leftwich. Artwork exhibited by Sheri Grote ’95.

End of football game until 5:30 p.m. Celebrating the 1969 C-SC football team
J.E. & L.E. Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center Gym. Enjoy a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres with alumni and friends as we honor the winningest football team in school history.

5 p.m. Fine Arts Picnic
East Shelter House, Martin Park. Tickets are $10.

5:30 p.m. Women’s soccer game / 8 p.m. men’s soccer game vs. Grand View University

7:30 p.m. Trivia Night
Lewis Street Playhouse, 405 Lewis, Canton, Mo. Sponsored by Alumni Association tp support the Student Scholarship Fund and Alumni Association activities. Cost to play is $25 per person, with teams of eight people. Snacks and bottled water will be available. Please bring your own beverages.
