Culver-Stockton College recently hired Alex Madera as the coach of the school’s esports teams. Madera, a native of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from Culver-Stockton College in December 2019.

Madera named coach of esports teams at Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College recently hired Alex Madera as the coach of the school’s esports teams.

Madera, a native of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Culver-Stockton College in December 2019. He worked as an assistant in C-SC’s Office of Marketing and Public Relations, and he was a member of the esports team. Before coming to Culver-Stockton, Madera was a member of the baseball team at Graceland (Iowa) University.

The esports coach has the primary responsibility of instructing students on esports and providing leadership in player development, sportsmanship, integrity and character development. Games that the C-SC esports teams play include Overwatch, Madden, League of Legends, Rocket League and CS:GO. C-SC is looking to add Call of Duty and Fortnite for the fall 2020 semester.
