‘“This Is How We Get Better” was written during Courtney’s senior year here at Culver-Stockton College,” stated Play Director David Lane. “It was a project within her playwriting class.” Deeds graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Theatre, accompanied by minors in English and History.

Set against the backdrop of the afterlife, “This Is How We Get Better” navigates the complexities of friendship, love, and loss. The story unfolds as three roommates grapple with the aftermath of their fourth roommate’s funeral. As they confront the regrets of words said and left unsaid, they discover that the ghost of their departed friend is inexplicably confined to their apartment. “This Is How We Get Better” contains mature language and subject matter while addressing the challenges of coping with grief. For more information about the performances, contact Lane via email at dlane@culver.edu or via phone at 573-288-6398.
