CANTON, Mo. — A gallery of work by Lon Brauer will be on display at the Mabee Art Gallery in the Herrick Foundation Center on the Culver-Stockton College campus through Dec. 20.
Brauer, who lives in Granite City, Ill., is known for his work in figure, interiors and plein air landscapes. He has shown his work both nationally and overseas. He splits his time between studio work, workshops and plein air events. His work is a mix of the abstract and representational, bringing an impressionistic use of paint and materials to create images that challenge the viewer with new perspectives on the landscape genre.
An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, with an artist talk beginning at 6:30 p.m. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday and by appointment. Exhibits are free and open to the public.
