CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College welcomed another large incoming class with 379 new students for fall of 2017. This number includes freshman, transfer and international students and brings total enrollment to the second largest in the history of the College. As of Census Day count, enrollment at Culver-Stockton College is over 1,100 total students. Even with the construction of the 48-bed residence hall, Carolyn L. and Robert W. Brown Hall, the residence halls are almost at capacity. C-SC has increased its enrollment by 47 percent in the past five years, making it one of a small percentage of higher education institutions nationwide that is reporting enrollment growth at this magnitude.
“Despite our influx of new students each year, our average student’s academic performance has remained constant for the past decade,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, Dr. Dan Silber. “We’re thrilled that despite our enrollment growth, we haven’t sacrificed the quality of students.”
Of the incoming class, there are 305 new freshman students and 20 international students. While 44 percent of these new students come from Missouri, the rest come from a wide geographic range; international students come from a number of different countries including: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, South Sudan, Liberia and Venezuela. Following the announcement of the Master of Education program, the College also saw a significant increase in their online and graduate program enrollment for another consecutive year.
“When we developed the ‘We See the Future’ strategic plan in 2015, our goal stated a total headcount of 1,100 students by 2020, and we have surpassed it!” exclaimed President Kelly M. Thompson. “We believe this enrollment growth and our new students’ eagerness to learn will bring even more energy to the College leading into the new year.”
