Culver-Stockton College’s 45th annual Robison Lecture on Religion will be delivered by Rev. Bernard “Chris” Dorsey, president of Higher Education & Leadership Ministries (HELM) with the Disciples of Christ (DOC) Christian Church. This year’s lecture is entitled, “Rescuing Human Dignity: Christian Community in the Theologies of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.” The Robison Lecture will take place Thursday, October 12 at 11:40 a.m. in Merillat Chapel Recital Hall, located in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.
CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College’s 45th annual Robison Lecture on Religion will be delivered by Rev. Bernard “Chris” Dorsey, president of Higher Education & Leadership Ministries (HELM) with the Disciples of Christ (DOC) Christian Church. This year’s lecture is entitled, “Rescuing Human Dignity: Christian Community in the Theologies of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.” The Robison Lecture will take place Thursday, October 12 at 11:40 a.m. in Merillat Chapel Recital Hall, located in the Robert W. Rev. Dorsey previously delivered a message at President Kelly M. Thompson’s inauguration in the spring of 2015. While on campus, he plans to spend time with the C-SC students involved in organizations affiliated with the DOC Church. Rev. Dorsey also plans on meeting and spending time with C-SC’s Black Student Union group.
Dr. Georgia Robison Beale endowed the Robison Lectureship in 1972 in honor of her father, Dr. Henry Barton Robison, professor of religion and dean of the school of religion at Culver-Stockton College from 1910 to 1944. Culver-Stockton College is one of 14 colleges and universities affiliated with the DOC Christian Church. The lectureship provides for an annual lecture in religious scholarship. Henry Barton Robison was a native of Georgia and was educated at Transylvania College, College of the Bible (LTS) and the Divinity School of the University of Chicago (Ph.D. in 1907 with a major in New Testament and a minor in Old Testament).
