Alumnus and Member of the Culver-Stockton College Board of Trustees Jenkins Davis ’70 has leveraged his C-SC business degree to earn top positions with such companies as John Deere, International Harvester, and Komatsu America Corporation. After obtaining an MBA from Western Illinois University, Davis has held many roles over the course of his decades-long career with Komatsu America Corporation, from Regional Manager, to Director of Distributor Development, Director of Governmental Sales, and eventually Director of National Accounts.
Now serving as the Director of Sales and Market Development for Komatsu America Corporation’s entire operation, Davis recognizes the real-world value of experiential education and seeks to influence the next generation of Wildcats to pick themselves up, open their eyes to the experiences around them, and take advantage of every opportunity. To broaden or widen his business knowledge, Davis earned recently a Ph D in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing.
Through his decades-long connection to his alma mater, Davis has generously welcomed C-SC students to tour facilities both stateside and internationally and has given them unparalleled opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. Davis shared that, over the course of his career, he has learned that “It is important for students to have the ability to apply their coursework to real life situations. I feel that their learning experience can be heightened and reinforced by seeing their everyday coursework being applied.”
Davis’ education on “the Hill” transcended the classroom. In fact, some of the most direct lessons he learned during his time as a Wildcat happened in the athletic arena, where Davis was a standout on the gridiron with the Hall of Fame 1969 Football Team. He shared, “On the football field, I learned that you can get knocked down but you can always get up. It is that way in life when you get knocked down you can lay there or get up fighting. Culver taught me how to get up fighting.”
