Jennifer (McReynolds) Berhorst ’06 earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Culver-Stockton College and continued her education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 2009. She then began working for Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP in 2010 as an Associate Attorney and was named Partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP in 2020.
Berhorst is a mentor, both formally and informally, to junior lawyers in her firm and continues to give back to her industry through her partnership with a team of her colleagues at BCLP who have established a diversity scholarship at UMKC School of Law. She dedicates time to the Volunteer Attorney Project, where she represents individuals as they seek to obtain guardianship and conservatorship over minor family members. Berhorst is a former board member of numerous organizations, including the MidAmerica Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City. Her work at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP and her service to her community earned her the honor of being named to the 21st class of Ingram’s 40 Under Forty in 2019, which annually recognizes the achievements and potential of young executives, professionals and community leaders.
Over the course of her career, Berhorst has regularly tied her success back to her experiences as an undergraduate student at Culver-Stockton College. Though Culver-Stockton College did not yet have a formal mock trial team established during Berhorst’s time on campus, she credits professors Jim Cosgrove and Stephen Landuyt with helping to prepare her for law school in their business law and constitutional law classes and ties her continued success back to history courses with Patrick Hotle and Scott Giltner in which she developed critical thinking and writing skills.
Jennifer enjoys playing piano, swimming, attending various activities for her children, reading, traveling, and doing yard work. She traveled to Paris and various spots in Italy in 2019. Berhorst lives in Kansas City, Mo. with her husband, Jason Berhorst ’05, and their two daughters, Olivia (8) and Gabriella (6).
