Criminal justice is an ever-evolving field that requires qualified professionals who have both a deep understanding of our legal system and adept interpersonal skills. 

The online criminal justice degree is designed to equip you with the knowledge to explore the impact of crime and implement effective strategies to reduce it. Throughout your criminal justice degree, you’ll gain the research, analytical and communications skills required for working in complex criminal justice occupations. 

The law enforcement public sector encompasses multiple careers including criminologists, police officers and detectives, probation and parole officers, court administration or criminal psychologists. With this degree, you can also select from a variety of relevant occupations in the public sector. You can seek out security and loss prevention roles in the private sector.

Criminal justice relates to the individuals who investigate these crimes and bring criminals to trial. It also relates to those who monitor inmates within prisons and those who supervise individuals released to pretrial services, probation, parole and community supervision. 

The online criminal justice degree emphasizes communication, behavior, and justice studies. You’ll have the opportunity to explore criminal justice policy, gender and crime, race and crime. You’ll take a broad spectrum of electives including but not limited to terrorism, sex crimes, drugs and crime, police accountability, community corrections, domestic violence, organized crime, white collar crime, gangs, neighborhoods and crime, and victimization.

Program Curriculum (26 Credit Hours)

General Education Credit Hours: 30

All candidates for a bachelor's degree from Culver-Stockton College must earn at least 120 credit hours with at least 60 credit hours from a four-year college or institution and 30 of the 60 credit hours from Culver-Stockton College. All candidates for a degree must earn at least 40 credit hours in upper-division courses (300-or 400-level courses) and at least 12 credit hours of upper-division courses in their major field. Our online academic advisor will work with each student to ensure that all requirements to graduate are met.
