Background
Dr. Alex Kirby joined Culver-Stockton College in August 2025 as the associate director of bands/director of athletic bands at Culver-Stockton College, where he directs the marching and pep bands. He also teaches courses in the music education curriculum and leads recruitment efforts for the fine and performing arts programs.
Prior to working at C-SC, Kr. Kirby taught at William Woods University, where he was the music department chair. He also served as the director of bands at Greenville University, where he led the concert, marching, and jazz bands and taught applied low brass. Prior to working in higher education, Dr. Kirby taught in several high schools across Missouri, where his students and ensembles consistently earned top honors at festivals and competitions.
Dr. Kirby is an active clinician, engaging with high school and junior high school ensembles across the Midwest. He lives in Columbia with his wife and daughter.
