Background
Dr. Andrew Schroetter is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. Schroetter conducts the Collegiate Choir, and Chamber Choir. He also teaches music theory, aural skills, singer's diction, applied lessons, and supervises student teachers. Prior to his appointment, he taught 7-12 grade choirs in the public schools of Wisconsin and Michigan for 19 years. Choirs under his direction received exemplary marks at large group festivals, recorded four CDs, were invited to sing at the Wisconsin School Music Association State Convention, attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Choral Invitational, and sing at the Wisconsin State Capitol for Music in our Schools Month. He is an active clinician and adjudicator and member of the National Association for Music Education, the College Music Society, the American Choral Directors Association, and the National Collegiate Choral Organization.
Schroetter is a champion of new music and supports the addition of new choral works to the traditional choral canon through commissions and consortium projects. His research interests include the preservation and performance of Renaissance choral music and the use of voice science in the choral rehearsal. Dr. Schroetter received his Bachelor of Music Education from Wartburg College, Master of Music Education degree from Boston University, and Doctor of Arts degree in Choral Conducting and Music Theory from Ball State University.
