Background

Dr. Cindy Whiston joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in August 2015. She develops and teaches courses on topics such as foundations of education, instructional strategies, assessment, educational research and current educational ethical and legal issues. She is the chair of the education department and director of student teaching.

Whiston previously was an elementary school principal, a secondary assistant principal and an athletic director in the Canton R-V School District in Canton, Mo. She also was a fifth-grade teacher for the Quincy Public Schools in Quincy, Ill., for six years and was part of the district's mentor teacher program. She also spent four years as a cooperating teacher at Quincy University.

Whiston is a member of the Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the Missouri Council of Education Deans.

A St. Louis native, Whiston lives in Canton, Mo., with her husband, Jeff, and their three children.
