Background
Jeffrey Johnson joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in August of 2025. As an assistant professor in the Art Department, he teaches foundation courses in Two and Three-dimensional design, Graphic Design, Typography, Web Design, and Developing a Professional Practice & Portfolio. He currently serves on the College's engagement committee and is co-sponsor of the Culver-Stockton Art Club.
Jeffrey received his undergraduate degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in printmaking from the University of Central Missouri in the year 2000. He has worked professionally as a graphic designer, illustrator, cartoonist, and independent craftsperson since 2006. He's illustrated multiple children's books, and tabletop role playing game supplements. In 2016, he began teaching Drawing, Watercolor, and Sketchbook Practice as an adult continuing education instructor at St. Louis Community College, until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Since then, he has completed graduate school at Washington State University in St. Louis, MO, taught Drawing, Figure Drawing, and Digital Video at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO, and taught Digital Studio, Graphic Design, and Senior Seminar at UMSL in St. Louis, MO.
Jeffrey is a member of AIGA and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, actively writes and speaks about graphic design, professional practice, and art education. He lives in Quincy, IL, with his wife Kelly and their three adorable but fairly obnoxious corgis. He enjoys playing the banjo and ukulele--tho not at the same time-driving for coffee, and listening to audiobooks.
