Background

Dr. Rebecca (Bex) Edelman is a Lecturer of Counseling and the School Counseling Program Coordinator at Culver-Stockton College. She joined the C-SC faculty in August 2025. Dr. Edelman is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Certified School Counselor in Maine.

Dr. Edelman is an experienced counselor educator, supervisor, and practitioner committed to advancing the profession through research and advocacy. Dr. Edelman has authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on topics including counselor wellness, technology in counseling, bibliotherapy, and ecotherapy practices. Her research focuses on multicultural school counseling interventions, counselor identity, student-athlete wellness, and social justice. She has resented at national and regional conferences on ethics, counselor identity, supervision, and the evolving role of school counselors. She also contributes to public policy and advocacy, testifying on school counseling certification and student mental health needs.

Dr. Edelman is skilled in teaching across face-to-face, online, and HyFlex learning formats and is known for integrating creative, gamified, and adventure-based learning strategies into counselor education.

Dr. Edelman currently serves on a national committee for AI research in counseling, co-chairing the American School Counselor Association Rural Affinity Group, and is the Past Chair of the Maine School Counselor Association.
